LDI’s Interiors business unit focuses on developing durable upholstery and wall covering that contributes to healthier commercial interiors. LDI’s Medical business unit focuses on developing safety and infection control products to protect staff, patients, and visitors.  We are looking for a Quality Control Engineer to provide technical support and supervise quality control.

Candidate should have an entrepreneurial spirit, customer-oriented mentality, and thirst to continuously improve.

Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality management
  • Production Quality Control
  • Manufacturing quality and process improvements
  • Solving and resolving Customer and Warranty issues
  • Maintain and implement company Quality Management System
  • Maintain and implement FDA QSR 21 820 Quality System for Medical Devices
  • Technical support for Sales and Customer Service
  • Develop performance improvements in interior and medical products
  • Create Process Maps and documented procedures and specs for each product
  • Experiment with printing and coating process innovations
  • Investigate new equipment and processes
  • Work with suppliers to conduct experiments and establish specifications and COAs
  • Establishing production procedures and controls
  • Production troubleshooting
  • Investigating root cause of QC issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Benchmark testing of competitive products
  • Develop new test methods to duplicate field performance issues
  • Find and develop new suppliers
  • Work with suppliers to improve their quality and solve problems

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Engineering preferred
  • Industry experience with plastics, coatings, or textiles is a plus
  • Experience with QC and production processes
  • Training and experience with Six Sigma, Quality Management Systems (ISO, etc)
  • Demonstrate past creative successes and problem-solving skills
  • Skill in negotiating with suppliers and customers
  • Coatings background would be a plus
  • Willing to conduct hands-on testing, experiments, and production trials
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good writing skills
  • Independent worker with initiative and strong work ethic
  • Willing to work safely with chemicals in an industrial setting
  • Good organizational skills. Good people skills
  • Ability to adapt to multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Willing to occasionally travel to China, Canada and throughout the US
