QC Engineer

LDI Solutions has two business units – Interiors and Medical. Through LDI Interiors, we focus on durable upholstery and wall coverings to contribute to healthier, beautiful commercial interiors. Through LDI Medical, we focus on developing innovative medical products to contribute to a safer, higher quality level of care throughout healthcare and deathcare.
We are looking for a Quality Control Engineer to provide technical support, supervise quality control, and oversee the lab operations for both business units.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and implement company Quality Management System
- Maintain and implement FDA QSR 21 820 Quality System for Medical Devices
- Interface with customers on quality issues
- Solve and resolve Customer and Warranty issues
- Technical support for Sales and Customer Service
- Work with suppliers to improve their quality and solve problems
- Investigating root cause of QC issues and implementing corrective actions
- Creation and issuance of reports and summaries for internal and external customers
- Create and document process maps, procedures, and specifications on each product
- Conduct both internal and external audits to ensure compliance to documented procedures and customer specific requirements
- Maintain and implement lab policies and procedures
- Benchmark testing of competitive products
- Oversee equipment preventative maintenance and calibration schedules
- Identify areas of opportunity for manufacturing quality and process improvements
- Establish production procedures and controls
- Cross functionally troubleshoot and solve problems with receiving, production, product development, and operations
- Experiment with printing and coating process innovations
- Bridge the gap between product development and production launch
- Help develop product use and care instructions
- Investigate new equipment and processes
- Develop new test methods to duplicate field performance issues
Desired Skills / Experience:
- BS degree in Materials, Plastics, Chemistry, Textiles or Chemical Engineering
- 3-5 years working with plastics, coatings, or textiles
- Experience with FDA quality systems for medical devices is a plus
- Experience with QC and production processes
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, Quality Management Systems (ISO, etc)
- Creativity and problem-solving skills
- Skill in negotiating with suppliers and customers
- Willing to conduct hands-on testing, experiments, and production trials
- Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good writing skills
- Independent worker with initiative and strong work ethic
- Willing to work safely with chemicals in an industrial setting
- Good organizational skills. Good people skills
- Ability to adapt to multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Willing to occasionally travel to China, Canada and throughout the US
