LDI Solutions has two business units – Interiors and Medical. Through LDI Interiors, we focus on durable upholstery and wall coverings to contribute to healthier, beautiful commercial interiors. Through LDI Medical, we focus on developing innovative medical products to contribute to a safer, higher quality level of care throughout healthcare and deathcare.

We are looking for a Research and Development Chemist to develop new products and product improvements, research new business opportunities, and assist in quality control for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop new product applications based on business opportunities.
  • Develop and improve products in textiles, upholstery fabrics, wall covering and other building interior surfaces.
  • Develop innovative medical products for hospitals, surgery centers, funeral homes, and tissue banks.
  • Research new coating formulations and additives
  • Design coating process innovations
  • Experiment with digital and 3D printing
  • Work with suppliers to conduct experiments and run trials to develop new products
  • Benchmark testing of competitive products
  • Find and develop new suppliers
  • Assist in the lab and with quality control

Requirements

  • BS in Materials, Chemistry, Plastics, Textiles or Chemical Engineering
  • 2 + years working in plastics, coatings, or textiles
  • Demonstrated success in creativity and problem solving
  • Skill negotiating with suppliers
  • Ability to conduct hands-on testing, experiments, and production trials
  • Independent worker with organizational skills, initiative and a strong work ethic
  • Willing to work safely with chemicals in an industrial setting
  • Ability to adapt to multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint and good writing skills.
  • Willing to occasionally travel
